Bill, a consultant from Indiana, presented a seminar to the Mountain View Police Department. While en route to Mountain View, Bill became concerned that he had a transmission problem. Peninsula Transmission Service was recommended to Bill. Pete Dyer, owner, agreed to look at the vehicle without an appointment and even stored the vehicle inside the shop to protect the audio-visual equipment Bill had inside. After checking the vehicle Pete determined that the problem was minor and posed no immediate hazard for the long drive back to Indiana. Due to the high mileage, Pete determined that it could actually create more problems if it was taken apart. The most impressive part is that Pete did not charge Bill for looking at his vehicle.

Michael R. Maehler, Chief of Police in Mountain View (1997), thanked Pete Dyer for going above and beyond the call of duty. "Bill has now left with a long-lasting and very positive impression of our area, due in no small part to your courtesy and professionalism. You provided a great service not only to Bill, but to your community and we appreciate it very much"
